Former Member of Parliament for Tema East, Titus Glover has lashed out at the ruling National Democratic Congress’ government following the arrest of NPP social activist Nana Addo Nyame on Wednesday .Remove ads
On Thursday national executives of the opposition NPP stormed the Greater Accra Regional Command of the Ghana police service, demanding his release.
Nana Addo Nyame was invited by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) over disparaging comments he is alleged to have made about the Krontihene of Akyem Asuom, Nana Boadi Amponim Obo-Dade III.
Led by the party’s General Secretary , Justin Frimpong Kodua , the party managed to secure the release of the NPP supporter on Thursday night.
But speaking to Martin Asiedu-Dartey, Host of “Hot Edition” on 3fm 92.7 , the former Tema East MP said, the arrests and detention of NPP members is becoming one too many under the NDC’s regime .
According to him, the NPP members will not sit aloof for them to be intimidated.
“ I want to tell the IGP and I have known him for the past years he shouldn’t allow politics to soil his office but what my party is doing is right. We’ll do any manner of thing to protect the sanctity of the constitution . The spirit of the NPP can never be thrown away . I am standing for National Organiser. I can assure President Mahama that , he’s not going to get it easy because we’ll not sit down for them to maltreat our people ; for them to do anything at all they like so he should be very careful”.

“ President Mahama should focus on the mess that they have created . Look at cocoa farmers they are suffering . You said you will create jobs for the youth ; you brought 24hrs economy you couldn’t fix it and instead of you to focus on the problems you are arresting NPP people and you want us to laugh ? That’s not going to happen”. He stressed .
But Titus’s Glover’s claims of intimidation was rebutted by a member of the NDC’s Communication team, Delali Sewoekpor who intimated that the NPP is engaged in politicking and using this as tool for their next executive elections .
He also launched a scathing attack on former Vice President of Ghana and now the 2028 Presidential candidate of the NPP, Dr Mahamdu Bawumia following the release of a press statement on Wednesday condemning the arrests and detention of NPP members.
“ Everytime I listen to the NPP and having read the statement from Dr Bawumia, what I have come to notice is that the NPP in their DNA is a group of people who continue to engage in double standard and duplicity. All of a sudden, you hear NPP members , you hear former Vice President of the Republic of Ghana once upon a time, the chairman of the Police Council, issuing that particular statement. It basically sum up to the fact that people continue to label Dr. mahamudu Bawumia as somebody who is chronically dishonest.”
“If I want to detail to you the ordeal that NDC members went through during the era of President Nana Akufo Addo government, I will tell you a litany of how NDC members were subjected to torture and humiliation when Nana Addo was the President of the Republic of Ghana”.
“Abronye DC was arrested for threatening a judge . The same group of people who criticized President Mahama when he pardoned the ‘Montie 3’ when they were incarcerated , the same group of people think they have the moral right to criticize the arrest and detention of Abronye. Is it not an irony?”.
He also said the NPP were quiet when all these atrocities were being committed against Journalists and social activists in Ghana.
