Mrs Hillary Clinton, presidential candidate of the Democrats is a safe pair of hands for Americans as against her main contender, Donald Trump of the Republicans, Dr Kobby Mensah, a political marketing strategist and lecturer at the University of Ghana Business School has stated.
America has throughout its history been governed by a male presidents, however, there is the possibility that the world super power will, for the first time in its democracy, have a female president after this year’s election.
Speaking on America Decides on Class91.3FM on Friday, 19 August, Dr Kobby Mensah said: “…Trump is a maverick, he speaks what he thinks and, of course, he goes against the typical political correctness and, therefore, people find him as genuine as opposed to the managed politician.”
“You also can have Hillary [Clinton] who is actually seen as a more stable pair of hands obviously as a result of the American generals who actually signed the petition that Trump shouldn’t be funded by the party. Their reason was that Trump was a risky choice [and] as a result, they will not back him, they would rather back Hilary.”
He continued: “So that tells you Hillary…is a safe pair of hands, she is much more political, that is, very tactical and you can understand why because she has been a true politician right from her young days. She was elected president of her class, she was firstly elected as the first female senator for New York. … That tells you she is a true politician, she has actually mastered the art of politicking and she has mastered the art of diplomacy.”
“So, if you have these two candidates going forward in a world that is facing a lot more turbulence, a lot more proxy wars, we have dominance of ideologies, dominance of political systems, dominance of economic systems, we are actually trying to kind of weave our way through: should we go back to socialism [or] do we go back to communism or do we stay with democracy?
“When you have that litany of issues facing the world, you need a safe pair of hands and say, ‘Hang on, I think we got to have some sane discussion here. So, if you look at the platform, you look at the geopolitical space, Britain has elected a lady, Theresa May, you have Angela Merkel in Germany, and there is a narrative that you, perhaps, need a woman to lead America and there is that consensus that women are very good managers, women are very good decision makers, women are very good people to calm tensions. So, the narrative that Hillary [Clinton] is a safe pair of hands is emerging.”
