The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) will engage 125,000 youth under its various employment modules in 2019, President Nana Akufo-Addo has said.

Delivering his third state of the nation address to parliament on Thursday, 21 February 2019, the president said: “Last year, the youth employment agency (YEA) gave some 107,000 youth various employment modules with an additional 125,000 set to be engaged this year.”

The president also said salaries of public sector workers went up by 10% this year.

“Workers in the public sector began the year on a good note after receiving a 10% increase in their salaries on top of the 11% increase of 2018.

“41,000 workers in the informal sector were also enrolled onto Tier three pension schemes with pensioners seeing an average increase of 11% in their monthly pension schemes with the lowest income brackets receiving a 14.7% increment”, he told the law-making chamber.
