The Government has strongly condemned the terrorist attacks in Burkina Faso over the weekend, which claimed nearly thirty lives. The deadly attacks which started on Friday targeted the Splendid and Yibi Hotels as well as the Cappucino Café, all popular spots for foreigners.
A statement signed by the Foreign Affairs Minister Hannah Tetteh, extended Ghana’s condolences to President Roch Marc Christian Kabore, the relatives of the deceased victims, and the Government and people of Burkina Faso. The government of Ghana also expressed its readiness to enhance cooperation with Burkina Faso and work together to see an end to the terrorist threat.
It further expressed commitment to work with the countries within the ECOWAS region to ensure citizens live in peace and security.
“We stand with our sister country of Burkina Faso in this difficult time and are ready to enhance our cooperation and work together to see an end to this terrorist threat. We commit ourselves to work with the countries within our ECOWAS region to ensure that our citizens can live in peace and security.” Meanwhile Burkina Faso has started three days of national mourning for the at least 28 people who were killed.
