Vice-President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bessa Simons, has said investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas will find no acts of corruption against MUSIGA should he decide to probe the union.

“Anas should try an investigation at MUSIGA. Apart from the fact that he may be wasting his time, there is no money at MUSIGA, there’s no money there. Who is going to take bribe? The person you are going to take bribe from wants money from you,” he told Bismark Boachie (DJ Premier) on Accra 100.5FM’s Entertainment Capital.

Elaborating further, Simons was of the view that “Anas will come and waste the money he will be giving out”.

There have been several claims of corruption within MUSIGA by some entertainment personalities.

In its 2012 budget report, read in November 2011, the government allotted GHS 2 million to the union. MUSIGA President, Bice Osei Kuffuor, popularly called Obuor, suffered intense criticism over the use of that money.

However, Simons insists: “People will be disappointed [if Anas should come there for any investigative purposes]”.

He believes the applause would rather be loud for MUSIGA if such an investigation is carried out.

“I think at the end of the day, they will say we have done a great job, and, so, the government should find some money and pay us,” he emphasised.
