The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has pledged not to politicise the lynching of army Captain Maxwell A. Mahama.
This was revealed by acting General Secretary John Boadu at a press conference in Accra on Monday, June 5.
He said all political parties must also pledge not to politicise the traffic incident.
Mr Boadu used the opportunity to announce that “government will today take a decision and announce the plans that the state has for the late Captain and his family, having taken a serious view of all that has happened regarding this unfortunate incident”.
Captain Mahama was lynched by irate youth of Denkyira Obuasi in the Central Region on Monday May 29 on suspicion that he was an armed robber, after a trader spotted a gun on him.
Forty-two suspects are being held in police custody in relation to the case as investigations continue.
Meanwhile, the family has announced that the deceased will be buried on Friday, June 9.
