The Electoral Commission’s voter exhibition exercise, a crucial step towards ensuring a transparent election on December 7, has commenced across the country.
However, several polling stations on the first day recorded low turnouts.
During a visit to three polling centres in the Ablekuma North constituency for instance, including Odorkor 2 Primary A and B, Adom News observed that only three persons had checked their details as of 11: am.
A similar trend was observed at the Ablekuma North Rocky Hospital Odorkor A and B, with just 11 voters verified by noon.
Exhibition Officer, Nana Atta Antwi expressed concern over the low turnout, appealing to the general public to avoid waiting until the last minute to verify their details.
“We urge all eligible voters to take advantage of this opportunity to ensure their names are on the register,” he said.
At the Kwashieman school park centers, which comprise seven polling stations, only 18 voters had checked their details by 1: pm.
With the exhibition exercise scheduled to end on August 27, there is still time for Ghanaians to verify their details and make any necessary corrections.
The Electoral Commission’s effort to ensure a transparent and credible electoral process is commendable.
However, it is essential for citizens to play their part by actively participating in the voter exhibition exercise.
