The Vatican has commended Ghana for its continued efforts to bring peace across the world in various ways including contributing troops to the United Nations.
His Eminence Cardinal Giuseppe Bertello, President of the Governorate of the Vatican City, who is also Vice President of the State of Vatican, conveyed Pope Francis’ appreciation of Ghana’s watchdog role when he paid a courtesy call on Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia at the Flagstaff House in Accra on Friday 3 March.
The visit follows an earlier call made on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo by the Apostolic Nuncio to Ghana, Archbishop Jean-Marie Speich, who delivered a congratulatory message on behalf of the pope to the president for his electoral victory and assumption of office as president.
The Pope promised to send an envoy to witness Ghana’s independence anniversary celebration, something the Vatican last did 40 years ago.
