The Coalition of Domestic Election Observers (CODEO) has revealed the results of the presidential and parliamentary elections released by the Electoral Commission (EC) are accurate and reflect what they also gathered from the elections.
The EC on Friday December 9 announced that the presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), now president-elect, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, got 53 per cent of total votes to beat President John Dramani Mahama and five other candidates to become the next president.
Speaking in relation to the results as announced by the EC, Professor Miranda Greenstreet, co-chair of CODEO, said at a news conference on Saturday December 10: “For each candidate, the official result closely matched the Parallel Vote Tabulation (PVT) estimate. In general, the PVT ranking for the presidential candidates based on their share of the votes is largely similar to what was put out by the Electoral Commission.”
CODEO’s PVT voter turnout is 69.33 as against 68.62 per cent by the commission. In all, the election observer group deployed 1497 PVT observers for the just-ended elections.
