A retired Superintendent of Police who was the Secretary to the then IGP and Member of Parliament (MP) for the Wa West Constituency, Peter Lanchene Toobu has said the Inspector-General of Police(IGP) Dr. Akufo Dampare should assist the Inspector who left his rifle in the commercial vehicle to get a psychiatric care.
The Ghana Police Service has interdicted one of its officers, Inspector Sulemana Adam after he left his rifle in a commercial vehicle.
Speaking in an interview, the retired Police, Peter Lanchene Toobu says a police officer’s gun is part of the policing the moment they put on their uniform.
He further explained that, he sees what happened to the Inspector by getting down from the commercial vehicle to the Police Station without his gun and still did not realize not to be a normal act.
The MP, Hon. Peter Toobu therefore says getting to the rank of Inspector means he might probably have passed through the ranks before he got there hence knows that a police officer cannot leave the gun while on duty.
He however, feels there is something wrong somewhere and for that reason he appealed to the IGP to help get a psychiatrist for the Police Inspector although he has been interdicted.
