A criminal lawyer, Augustine Obuor, has criticized the Office of the Special Prosecutor, likening its actions in the case of the former Minister for Sanitation, Cecilia Dapaah, to that of an inexperienced student who lacks a clear understanding of the matter at hand.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor has charged former Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Dapaah for refusing to comply with a directive from the office to declare her assets and money.
According to the OSP, Cecilia Dapaah who is being investigated for corruption-related offences, among others, has refused to furnish the OSP with documents given her to declare her property and income since July.
The criminal lawyer, Augustine Obuor, has suggested that the Special Prosecutor should pursue an appeal since the High Court has already issued its ruling on the matter.
“Is Aunty Ceci and her husband children not to acquire properties, I have not said they cannot commit crime but the one who have sued the person should be able to tell the offences”
“High court has already ruled if you disagree with it, you can file for appeal and that is why we have appeal process.”
He characterized the Special Prosecutor’s actions in court regarding the issue as resembling that of a primary school student who frequently makes mistakes in an exercise book and needs to seek corrections every day.
“This is primary school work, where if you make mistakes, you are expected to make corrections and then submit it to the teacher for correction. We don’t go to court in pieces, you can go for appeal when the case is ruled.”
He emphasized that no one should go to court in a pieces, therefore, suggested that the Special Prosecutor should pursue an appeal rather than going to court on a daily basis.
