Disputed flag bearer of the United Progressive Party (UPP), Akwasi Addae Odike, has declared his support for the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the December polls.
“We are throwing our support behind a visionary leader like Nana Akufo-Addo, who is also advocating industrialisation and agricultural mechanisation, which is in line with our party’s vision and we are making it emphatically clear to the good people of this country that Nana Akufo-Addo is a man of intelligence, very cautious, and very humane in all his dealings, so we believe Nana Akufo-Addo can deliver Ghanaians from our present economic predicaments,” he told Class News’ Naa Dedei Tettey on 12Live.
Mr Odike withdrew from the presidential race on Wednesday, 9 November, the Electoral Commission’s deadline for the submission of corrected nomination forms.
So far the Electoral Commission has cleared seven presidential aspirants to contest in the 2016 polls.
They are Nana Akufo-Addo (NPP), Mr John Mahama (NDC), Mr Ivor Greenstreet (CPP), and an independent candidate, Mr Jacob Osei Yeboah.
The rest are: Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings (NDP), Dr Papa Kwesi Nduom (PPP), and Dr Edward Mahama (PNC).
