Medeama will make their CAF Champions League debut against Nigerian side Remo Stars, according to the preliminary round draw, which took place in Cairo, Egypt.
The Ghanaian champions, Medeama, are eager to make their mark in Africa’s premier club competition after securing victory in the Ghana Premier League last season.
This will be their first-ever appearance in the CAF Champions League, having previously participated in the CAF Confederation Cup in 2014 and 2016.
Medeama FC will kick off their continental journey by hosting Remo Stars in the first leg at their home before travelling to Nigeria for the second leg. The matches are scheduled to take place from 18th to 20th August for the first leg, and 25th to 27th August for the second leg.
Notably, Medeama’s last participation in CAF inter-club competitions was in 2016 when they made it to the group stage, displaying an impressive performance that included eliminating South African giants Mamelodi Sundowns in the playoff.
The winner of the Medeama-Remo Stars tie will face the formidable Guinean side, Horoya AC, in the second round, with the ultimate goal of securing a coveted spot in the group stage of the CAF Champions League.
