Former President John Dramani Mahama has urged customers of the defunct DKM Microfinance to demand their locked-up funds from Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, emphasizing that the current administration is responsible for addressing their financial losses.
In the run-up to the 2016 election, the ownership of the defunct DKM Microfinance became a significant campaign issue for the then-opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The first family at the time was accused of owning the company. In 2015, the central bank suspended DKM for breaches of the banking act.
Speaking in Nkoranza North in the Bono East Region, where the defunct company operated extensively, John Mahama revealed that the owner of the company is now deeply involved in Bawumia’s campaign.
According to Mahama, during his presidency in 2016, NPP MPs and party leadership falsely accused him and his wife, Lordina, of being associated with the leader of DKM Microfinance, which defrauded investors.
Recently, however, Mahama explained that Vice President Bawumia was seen with the same individual, who is now funding his campaign as a crony of the NPP.
The NDC flagbearer, John Mahama stated that the lies peddled against him in 2016 have now been exposed, as it has been revealed that the person in charge of DKM is an NPP member.
He urged the people to remember that while lies may spread quickly, the truth ultimately prevails.
Mahama added that when Bawumia visits Nkoranza, the people should demand answers from him about his involvement and the fate of their investments.
