The Ghana Journalist Association (GJA) is backing the premiering of a video of some judges caught on camera allegedly collecting bribes to subvert justice.
According to the GJA President, Roland Affail Monney, the showing of the video is in the supreme interest of the state to deter others from engaging in similar acts.
There are divergent views on whether or not to show the explosive video of judges taken bribes by investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
The Judicial Council has begun a probe into the allegations of bribery against some 22 circuit court judges and magistrates who were caught on camera in the latest expose.
The judges one after the other are expected to be shown portions of the video capturing them in the three hour piece.
Due to this, some lawyers believe showing the video will affect the investigative process but other maintained that showing it will serve as a lesson to others.
But in an interview with Adom News, Mr. Affail Monney said they are in support of the public premier of the video.
He indicated that the GJA as a member of the Ghana Anti-corruption Coalition will not support any campaign to cover up crime.
“Nothing should hinder the showing of this film. They wanted evidence and now they have it so the Chief Justice should act,” he added.
The GJA president could not fathom why the judges caught on camera should be treated differently from others exposed by Anas.
