A delegation from Ghana’s parliamentary committee for oil, gas and mining is currently in T&T to seek guidance and understanding on this country’s exploration and production bill.
There is a new exploration and production bill before the Parliament in Ghana to replace the 1980s vintage Act and the committee is reviewing the Bill before it goes before Ghana’s Parliament.
They have met with Energy Minister Kevin Ramnarine at his offices Level 26, Tower C International Waterfront Centre, Port-of-Spain and plan to visit the State institutions that manage or are managed by that ministry to get a sense of the important issues to focus on in their own legislation.
They are interested in meeting the regulators and understanding some of the issues of their legislation, as well as the roles and experiences of local regulators and State companies.
During his meeting with the delegation, Ramnarine underscored the important relationship between T&T and Ghana on energy, citing historical relations. He said he looked forward to “our continued work together in the future.”
