Oil Company MODEC has dismissed 18 of its local staff, Starr News can report.
A dismissal letter cited by Starr News indicates that the workers have been put on a redundancy list by management of the company, citing changes in organisational structure as a reason for the action.
“The review is being undertaken across the full spectrum of its operations. In this regard,we will be carrying out a severance of working relationship with some of our workers affecting about eighteen employees effective July 1,2015,” portions of the letter stated.
Hundreds of the workers on the FPSO Kwame Nkrumah recently threatened to strike over attempts to dismiss 28 of their colleagues by the management.
The National Labour Commission (NLC), however, intervened and asked the aggrieved parties to go back to the negotiation table.
