Vice-President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia on Thursday, 26 April 2018, broke grounds for the construction of concrete roads in the country with Tema as the starting point.
Ghana’s first major concrete road was constructed in the 1960s during our first Republic by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to link Tema and Accra. The road has survived more than its design life of 40 years.
Speaking at the ceremony, Dr Bawumia said as part of the transformational vision of the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, “we’re repeating history with the beginning of another major agenda for the construction of concrete roads in Tema.”
He appealed to all road users and stakeholders to desist from activities which would be detrimental to the life span of our roads.
The project will be undertaken by two local firms.
