Charles Frimpong, the businessman who allegedly shot and killed a mechanic at Alajo in Accra recently has been charged with murder.
He was charged with attempted murder initially when the victim was receiving treatment at the hospital. However, police prosecutors changed the charge at the Abeka District Court on Monday, August 14 days after the victim passed away as a result of his gunshot wounds.
He has subsequently been remanded into custody until the next court hearing.
Yaw Boadi, the victim, was shot following a misunderstanding with the accused. The bullet penetrated the lower side of his abdomen following an altercation between him and the suspect, Charles Nana Frimpong, in front of a garage at Alajo.
According to eyewitnesses, the shooter parked his Hyundai vehicle in front of a warehouse, blocking the access road to the facility. A mechanic told him to move his vehicle to make way for others to have access to the warehouse but that infuriated the suspect who reached for his side arm and fired warning shots.
In the process, a stray bullet hit Yaw Boadi in the abdomen, causing him to bleed profusely and ultimately, to his untimely death.
