The Metropolitan Chief Executive of Cape Coast, Ernest Arthur, has disclosed that the Assembly is working hard to take advantage of the government’s “One-District, One-Factory” policy to improve the economy of Cape Coast.
Addressing Assembly Members at the Second Ordinary Meeting of the Second Session of the Seventh Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, the MCE stated that GRATIS Foundation has given the Assembly its abandoned structure for completion to start the initial production of electric bulbs under the “One-District, One-Factory” initiative.
The MCE also stated that the Pomadze poultry farm at Ankaful, which was listed under the Divestiture Implementation Programme, has been released to the Assembly to be used as part of the government’s “One-District, One-Factory” project to generate employment for the unemployed youth in the metropolis. This, according to Mr Arthur, is a good project for both the Planting for Food and Jobs and the Planting for Investment Programme.
On revenue performance, Mr Arthur disclosed that there has been a marginal improvement in revenue collection this year as compared to 2016, adding that the total revenue collected as at 31st August, 2017 stood at 55.60 per cent as compared to 51 per cent in 2016.
“The Assembly will continue to vigorously pursue measures and strategies that will further enhance the Assembly’s revenue mobilisation through the use of ICT”, he stated.
