President John Dramani Mahama is scheduled to visit Yendi in the Northern Region of Ghana today, Monday, 22 August, as part of his campaign activities.
A statement released by Rashid Yahuza, Yendi Constituency Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress, on Friday August 19, said: “It has now been confirmed that President Mahama will be visiting Yendi on Monday 22 August 2016. We have been tasked to mobilise our supporters to give the president a rousing welcome. This visit may be the president’s last visit to Yendi before the December polls. He will also tour other constituencies in the North.”
“It is, therefore, envisaged that the visiting constituencies will view it as a competition among them in terms of whose rally will attract more people than the other. In similar vein, the Northern Region, which is considered to be the home of H.E. JDM, will be compared to the Western Region where the president is currently embarking on a campaign tour…” the statement said.
