Assembly members in Kumasi have vowed to support the new Chief Executive Officer for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Osei Assibey Antwi, to develop the Ashanti regional capital.
Abraham Boadi, also known as Opooman, an assembly member of Nhyiaeso electoral area and Presiding Member at KMA, said they were willing to cooperate with any KMA boss who follows the assembly’s laid-down procedures and regulations, not one who goes contrary to them.
“To the extent that Mr Antwi is willing to follow the procedure, they have also vowed to support him to succeed.
The assembly members will today Friday 17 March vote on Mr Antwi, who was nominated by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
Speaking in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom, on Accra100.5FM on Friday 17 March, Opooman said: “This is the third KMA chief executive I will be working with as an assembly member and I can assure you that we the assembly members will cooperate with him to ensure the needed development of Kumasi.
“We will not support someone who does not follow Act 936, the LI, the Standing Orders and all the by-laws of the assembly. We will not accept it. We will not support who was given GHS41billion to build a Rattray Park but only used GHS182 million. We will never ever accept such a person because we have to justify to the Kumasi people the work that has been done.”
