The newly sworn-in ministers of state have assured President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo that they will work to ensure that all the promises the New Patriotic Party (NPP) made to Ghanaians are fulfilled.
Speaking after their swearing-in ceremony at the Flagstaff House in Accra, Dr Anthony Akoto Osei, Minister of Monitoring & Evaluation, who spoke on behalf of the second batch of ministers, said: “We express our deepest appreciation for the honour you have bestowed on us, and the confidence that reposed in us. We learn of three Cs – cooperation, candour and consensus. We assure you we will do all of that.”
For his part, President Akufo-Addo tasked his ministers to allow humility, sincerity and honesty to guide them in their day-to-day activities as public servants.
According to him, the Ghanaian people have bestowed a huge mandate on the New Patriotic Party to ensure the economic transformation and prosperity they need, hence the ministers should not fail.
“You are now honourable ministers of the Ghanaian nation with all its implications. The most important of those implications is the commitment to service. You are now high public officials, which means that you are leading members of the public service and public service means exactly that, public service. It is a calling, a noble one, which has to be discharged with honesty, severity and humility.
“The Ghanaian people in their generosity have conferred on us, the New Patriotic Party and me, a huge mandate. They have placed squarely their faith in us to engineer the transformation of social and economic circumstances that will lead to their progress and prosperity of our nation.”
