Head coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Steve Pollack, has admitted the penalty awarded to his side in the quarterfinal match of the MTN FA Cup against minnows NEA Salamina on Wednesday should not have stood.
The match official, Nuhu Liman, awarded the Porcupine Warriors a penalty in the 95th minute which was converted by Captain Amos Frimpong to power Kotoko into the semifinal stage of the competition as they won the game by two goals to one.
However, speaking in a post-match press briefing, Coach Pollack said he found the referee’s decision to award a penalty he deems soft, embarrassing.
“I was embarrassed at the penalty. I wanted to win the game but not this way. It wasn’t a penalty,” he said.
Hearts of Oak, Medeama and Wa All Stars have all qualified to the last four of the competition.
