In a shocking and disturbing incident, the Assemblyman for Wassa Amensi East, Benjamin Nomene, has revealed that his late mother’s grave had been desecrated and her body exhumed by unknown individuals.
The horrifying discovery came to light when another family, recently bereaved, visited the cemetery. It was during this visit that they noticed the disrupted grave. The unsettling discovery was made three weeks ago.
“We realized that the grave for my mum had been interrupted,” Nomene stated. “The lid was broken, and my late mother’s remains were not in the coffin.” He told host of Yen Nsempa on Onua FM, Nana Yaa Brefo, co-hosted by Isaac Ekow JB, May 27.
In an unsettling twist, Nomene disclosed that the same family experienced a similar ordeal.
On May 26th, just days after they discovered the tampered grave of Nomene’s mother, they found that the body of their deceased relative had also been exhumed.
Shockingly, the remains of Nomene’s mother were returned, only for the newly buried body to be taken.
The incidents have left the community of Wassa Amenfi East in fear and confusion.
The motive behind these acts remains unknown, and local authorities are investigating the matter to bring the perpetrators to justice.
Residents are urged to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
The desecration of graves he says is not only a criminal act but a deeply distressing violation of cultural and spiritual norms in the community.
Nomene and the affected family are seeking solace and justice in the wake of these tragic events.
The community stands in solidarity with them, hoping for a swift resolution to these grave desecrations.
