Police have disclosed that their intelligence suggests that more than one person may be involved in the recent serial killings in Wa, the Upper West Region capital.
They have, therefore, assured that “we will do whatever it takes to get them arrested to face justice”.
This comes in the wake of the arrest of Kankani Adongo, regarded as the prime suspect.
He was arrested on Monday, September 19 after the special purpose intelligence and investigation team of the Ghana Police Service was deployed to the area.
Residents have lived in fear after mysterious deaths have been recorded in the municipality with the Wa Central Member of Parliament, Dr Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, confirming eyes and tongue of the latest body was removed.
The residents suspect foreigners in the area, embarking on a demonstration on Friday, September 16 and later vandalising shops belonging to some Nigerian businessmen.
But the police have assured of maintaining law and order in the municipality.
On Monday night, the body of a male adult was recovered at Bamahu, a suburb of Wa.
“After the necessary crime scene examination, the body was removed and deposited at the Regional Hospital, Wa awaiting autopsy,” the police said.
A pathologist from the Police Hospital is leading a team to Wa to aid in investigation into the incidents.
“We continue to urge anyone with credible information that will lead to the arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators to come forward and share with the Police.
“In line with this, a reward of GH¢100,000 has been set aside for anyone who provides information in that regard.”
