The Volta Region cannot be seen as a “loyal housewife” who is forever faithful to her husband, president of Volta Regional House of Chiefs, Togbe Afede XIV has said, adding that the area is open to all political parties.
The region has been the stronghold of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) since the start of the fourth republic.
However, speaking to chiefs in the region on Friday during the visit of Nana Akufo-Addo, flag bearer of the main opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), the Agbogbomefia of Asogli, who recently said the description of the region as the “world bank” of the NDC was derogatory, said: “Volta Region is not like a loyal housewife whose husband will come home only when he’s hungry.”
“That is why, I’m very glad that we have so many paramount chiefs here across the Region who have come to welcome Nana Akufo Addo and his entourage.”
Mr Akufo-Addo is wrapping up his five-day tour of the region.
