Deputy Executive Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), Henry Nana Boakye, has said the solid foundation laid down by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo last year, will create more job opportunities for the youth this year and beyond.
According to him, the government recognises the current plight of the youth of this country as far as employment is concerned. Hence, the strong foundation laid down by the government.
The government has initiated policies including the One District One Factory programme, the Planting for Food & Jobs and a few others, as part of the job creation agenda.
Speaking on Ghana Yensom on Accra100.5FM hosted by Chief Jerry Forson, on Thursday, 25 January, Mr Boakye, who is also aspiring to become the National Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), said: “We have a president who is so passionate about the young people in Ghana,” he said.
“We know that a lot of the youth are suffering from unemployment but we have a president who has laid a solid foundation in 2017 and that foundation will yield results in this year and beyond.
“There will be more jobs this year, there will be more jobs the following year and years to come. He may not be able to provide jobs for everyone now in one go, but what he has done so far will gradually create jobs for all in the near future.”
He further indicated that he has the requisite qualities to lead the youth wing of the NPP.
“We need to sustain political power for so many years, we need to move beyond the 8 years and we will have to break that record. It doesn’t come with the mouth, it comes with hard work especially from the youth wing.
“I have served the party, I have served all the past National Youth Organisers who have come and so I can do the job. I served Mustapha Hamid, I served John Boadu, I served Anthony Karbo and now Sammi Awuku,” he said.
