Fugees rapper Wyclef Jean has received an apology from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department after he was handcuffed and detained in a case of mistaken identity.
Clef posted a video on social media during the arrest near a Los Angeles recording studio.
Apparently he was mistaken for a suspect wearing a red bandana who had robbed a gas station.
The LAPD confirmed their officers were not involved.
“It is unfortunate that Mr Jean was detained for six minutes during this investigation, as he had no involvement whatsoever in this violent crime,” the sheriff’s department said in a statement.
“The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is apologetic for any inconvenience this process caused Mr Jean.”
