He managed 122 votes as against the 187 polled by eventual winner Joseph Mensah. A total of 309 delegates voted in the primary on Tuesday September 27.
Mr Mensah was earlier disqualified by the Constituency Vetting Committee on the basis that he was not a member of the party.
The Committee claimed also that his party identity cards were fake while he served as a cadre of the Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) of Flt Lt J.J. Rawlings, which, it was argued, made him unfit to contest in the primary.
But he filed a suit against the committee in an Accra High Court. The court cleared him to contest in the primary, barely three months to the polls in December.
The court upheld his claim that he was unjustifiably disqualified from contesting in the primary.
