A Tema-based Burkinabe business man was shot in broad day light after which robbers snatched an amount in excess of GHS1.8m from him.
The incident is reported to have occurred on Saturday, May 20 at Tema Community 4 Republic Road around 7:30pm.
The victim was accosted by some assailants on motorbike who shot him in the right thigh before bolting with the money which was sales from his business.
Kwame Amponsah, an eyewitness who spoke to Class News, said the importer had been targeted on three different occasions. According to him, other individuals around informed him that the money the victim was carrying was more than GHS1.8m.
“The gentleman came from his office and he was having the money on him. He came to pick the money from his office, he is a Burkinabe importer. A motorbike was parked at a distance with one person sitting behind the rider. He shot him and they run away with the money. I am told it is the third time this particular person has been attacked,” he said.
The victim is responding to treatment at the Narh Bita Hospital in Tema as the case has been reported to the police.
