The Tema Regional Police Command has revealed that Charles Ayitey, aka Zaga, 20, who has been arrested for attempting to behead his friend, will be put before court on Tuesday August 2.
According to Tema Regional Police PRO ASP Juliana Obeng, the victim, Daniel Norteye, 19, decided to pass the night at his friend’s house at Tema Newtown after the two attended dance rehearsals on Sunday July 31.
At about 4:00am, the suspect tried to behead Daniel Norteye. The victim, who woke up after feeling a sharp pain around his neck, struggled with the suspect resulting in cuts on his palm and lower abdomen. He managed to snatch the knife and bolted from his friend’s room.
He ran to his aunt’s home after which he was sent to the Tema General Hospital for treatment. The victim’s father organised some men to arrest the suspect and handed him over to the police.
Following a search of the victim’s room by police, ASP Obeng explained that the decomposing body of a headless snake, egg shells, and powder were discovered.
In addition, the law enforcement officers retrieved a doll. Upon interrogation, the suspect said he took the snake from a friend but refused to say what the items were going to be used for.
