Techiman City Football Club have parted ways with coach Yussif Abubakar after both the club and trainer failed to reach common ground over a recent feud.
Abubakar, who has led the team to 10th position in the ongoing Ghana Premier League (GPL), told Class Sports he was satisfied with the arrangement to leave the club.
“We had some problem some time ago, that was the reason why I was not involved directly… It is today that management invited me and finally it was agreed on my side and on their side that we have to part ways to make way for the team, I think I am okay with that,” he stated.
Coach Abubakar disclosed he had no written contract with the club.
“I wouldn’t go far because their reasons are right. From what they said today, my excuse is also tangible and that we are all right, but we did not have any written contract. It was all verbal so I think I have done what I’m supposed to do and they have also done what they are supposed to do and have helped the team to a certain level and they have also helped me to a certain level, so we have thanked each other and parted ways,” he added.
Despite challenges in the club’s coaching department, Techiman City are yet to taste defeat at home in the GPL and have been able to pick 18 points from a possible 24.
Coach Abubakar’s exit from the Brong Ahafo-based club makes him the sixth manager to part ways with his club in this year’s GPL after Nurudeen Ahmed (Aduana Stars), David Duncan (Kotoko), J.E Sarpong ( Ebusua Dwarfs), Herbert Addo (Inter Allies) and Kenichi Yatsuhashi(Hearts of Oak) all got relieved of their duties.
