The National Youth Organiser of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B), has asked the police to arrest some youth believed to be members of the governing NPP who attacked the Tamale Teaching Hospital and its Chief Executive Officer Dr David Akolbila on Monday.
According to him, the action of the youth smacks of lawlessness, hence they should be made to face the full rigour of the law.
The rampaging youth accused the CEO of adopting a habit of issuing threats to staff, engaging in procurement breaches and neglecting the purchase of key hospital consumables such as examination gloves, needles and syringes, among other things.
They also alleged that under Dr Akolbila’s watch, the Tamale Teaching Hospital keeps deteriorating.
But reacting to this development on Ghana Yensom on Accra 100.5FM hosted by Chief Jerry Forson on Tuesday, 14 August, Nana B, said: “The police should arrest them and make them face the full rigours of the law. I just checked from the police and I understand the group leader has been arrested this morning.”
He added: “This was not sanctioned by the NPP youth wing, the party knows nothing about this development.
“We cannot continue to condone these acts of lawlessness by the youth who will always hide under the cover of the NDC and the NPP to be fomenting trouble and so they should be arrested.”
