Tamale City players and their team bus were reportedly assaulted by supporters of Aduana FC in Dormaa on Sunday following the Ghana Premier League match between the two sides.
The home team secured a 1-0 victory with a penalty in the 10th minute of added time, extending their lead at the top of the league to 44 points, three ahead of second-placed Bechem United.
Images of the team’s damaged bus circulated on social media after the game, with one player seen with a bandaged head. A video also showed the bus being targeted with stones by unidentified individuals as it departed Dormaa.
Head coach of Tamale City, Hamza Mohammed, later spoke to 3 Sports, saying that their bus was ruined and players were attacked. “Our bus is destroyed. Aduana FC supporters were throwing stones at us,” he stated.
This is the second occasion in two home games that Aduana FC have played an additional ten minutes, having scored an equaliser in the ninth minute of added time in their previous game against Real Tamale United two weeks ago.
