President of the Movement for the Kingdom Image (MKI), Osempakani Kaakyire Kofi, is urging like-minded religious leaders to be courageous and begin suspending members of their church who use unsavoury language that has the tendency to mar public peace.
According to him, pastors must concentrate on the damages that could be caused by reckless politicians and members of their church through their utterances and conduct and shift their focus on the financial contributions to the church.
His comment comes on the back of an alleged treasonable comment by a Deputy General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) Koku Anyidoho.
Osempakani Kofi tells Class News that the primary duty of the church is to lead souls to God and ensure peace.
“Inasmuch as a member commits adultery or fornication the member is suspended from the church for some time the same thing should be done to politicians in our churches so that for instance what Koku did, not him alone but there are some other political names who speak on radio and television as if they don’t know Christ but they belong to churches,” he admonished.
He was of the opinion that when punishments are meted out to such persons by the churches it will help control the conduct of politicians.
