Ghanaian international singer Stephanie Benson will on 1 September 2016 climb the 1,912m high Mont Ventoux in France to raise funds for cancer treatment.
Put together by the Benson Family Foundation, Ms Benson said her foundation was targeting £50,000 for more research and better treatment for cancer patients and also to improve ways to live with the disease.
According to the songstress, 60 per cent of funds raised will be used to purchase a mobile mammogram for Ghana and 40 per cent towards the Dutch Cancer Society.
“On September 1st, I’m going to climb the Mont Ventoux with the Dutch Singing For Your Life team. This organisation put up 31 choirs for cancer patients and their families through Holland. Participants come together every week or two to sing together, which has a direct effect upon body and spirit. I met them in May in Holland singing with 500 choir members in the Amsterdam Concertgebouw. … Nothing compared to the struggle of all these people I have met…living with cancer and their loved ones caring for them,” she said on her website.
The Good Feeling singer told ClassFMonline.com that she was committed to helping fight cancer because she was once a victim of the disease.
“On the 16 June 2016, I was cleared of cancer. I’m now devoted to raising money for more cancer research, better treatments, and to improve the lives of others,” she stated.
She urged Ghanaians to visit her website thebensonfamilyfoundation.com to make a donation of any amount to support her cause.
