A former President of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr Mohammed Ibn Chambas, has called on the Electoral Commission (EC) to intensify direct public education toward the December elections.
Speaking to Class News, the former Bimbilla Member of Parliament however stated the United Nations would work with the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) to undertake public education ahead of Election 2016.
“The UN, through UNESCO, will be working with the NCCE to step up on public education and civic education leading up to the election,” he stated.
“The EC itself, it is our understanding that they understand there is a little bit of concern that they need to inform the public more. They have embarked on some restructuring regarding communication and we hope that in the coming weeks, we can see direct communication between the EC and the general public informing them about its various activities leading up to the elections.”
