The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), has sacked interdicted General Manager in charge of Management Information Systems (MIS), Dr Caleb Afaglo.
“Evidence made available to the Trust indicates that the University degrees presented by Dr Afaglo to secure his employment at the Trust are fake,” a statement released by SSNIT on Wednesday, August 30 shortly after a board meeting stated.
A copy of the release available to ClassFMonline.com which was signed by Acting Corporate Affairs Manager Victoria Gifty Abaidoo indicated that termination of the employment contract with Dr Afaglo takes “immediate effect”.
He was interdicted by SSNIT on July 13, 2017, after an Economic and Organized Crimes Office (EOCO) investigation exposed his academic and professional qualifications.
This comes in the wake of a probe into the acquisition of a software system for $72 million. There are concerns that the monies paid for the system have been overpriced, with ICT experts arguing that the cost for the application is outrageous.
In view of that SSNIT said it “will collaborate with the Economic and Organized Crimes Office (EOCO) to ensure that those suspected of breaches of the law in respect of the OBS contract are dealt with in accordance with the laws of the land.”
The release added that SSNIT expects the names of people associated with the IT OBS contracts to be released in the near future adding that they will “publish the findings of the PricewaterhouseCoopers as promised at their recent press conference”.
SSNIT said they are committed to cleaning up the Trust and rightly positioning it to serve the interest of its stakeholders.
