Akosua Agyapong has broached a topic that has always stoked fiery debates among Christians and non Christians – alcohol.
According to the highlife musician, some gospel musicians in Ghana drink alcohol before mounting stages to perform.
“Some of our gospel musicians drink alcohol before they get on stage and it is very heartbreaking,” she said an interview with Dr Pounds on Hitz Gallery on Hitz FM.
She further recounted that she was once asked by her bandleader to take alcohol to help her muster much courage and kill any shyness in her anytime they were about to perform. She said because she stood by her virtues, she turned down the offer by the band leader.

The ‘Kokooko’ singer urged gospel musicians to endeavour to live lives that are exemplary of Christian values.
“Some people don’t really pay attention when the sermon is being preached; some even sleep but immediately get up when they start singing gospel songs. People actually pay heed to the words of Gospel song so I’m begging our gospel musicians to change,” said in the interview.
