Former General Secretary of the NPP says President John Mahama is to blame after Greater Accra Regional Minister Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo was caught on camera dosing off at a public function.
According to Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, the speech of the President was just like a lullaby thus the fatigued Regional Minister had no other option than to sleep.
Social media was awash with some video that captured the Minister sleeping off at one of the gathering during the President’s “Accounting to the people’s” tour in the Greater Accra region.
The iconic politician popularly referred to as “Lion”, could not live up to his accolade as he was struggling to stay awake while the President was addressing the people.
But the former NPP scribe popularly known as Sir John said the conduct of the Minister proved that the speech by President Mahama was ‘much ado about nothing’.
This notwithstanding, Sir John said he is not surprised since according to him, Ministers the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) have a history of sleeping at public functions.
“This is not the first time Ministers of NDC and MPs have been caught sleeping while the President is delivering his speech. I am not surprised at all because Mahama himself is sleeping so what do you expect. Afotey Agbo slept because he couldn’t stand the propaganda piece from his President” he scoffed.
But the Minister reacting to the video in an interview said he had been fronting the President’s tour, hence he was fatigued by the enormous work in his role during the ongoing tour in the region.
However he feels the fuss about him dozing off was needless since he was not the one being talked to by the President.
