Residents and businesses close to the Nima residence of President-elect Nana Akufo-Addo have expressed frustration over road blocks in the area, which they say are presenting an inconvenience for them.
Following Mr Akufo-Addo’s victory in the December presidential polls, his residence and neighbouring homes have been marked as a security zone. Subsequently, roads such as the Odoi Yeboah Street leading to Mr Akufo-Addo’s house and a host of other locations in the area have been blocked and restricted to the public.
Star Assurance Company Limited, RMS Swiss School, Maxlot Hotel, and Just Glory Travel and Tours, all located on that stretch of the Ring Road, have been affected.
Some of the firms told Class FM on Wednesday December 14 that it had been difficult redirecting clients to their offices.
“The roads are blocked now and cars are not coming in. I use the next street when coming to work and I don’t have any problem with that but clients, especially new ones who are not familiar with the area, decide not to come at all when asked to use another route. If it continues like that, it will affect us, but I’m sure after the swearing-in the roads will be opened,” an affected businessman, who spoke on condition of anonymity, stated.
