The husband of comedienne Afia Schwarzenegger, Lawrence Abrokwa, has been granted bail in the sum of GHS20,000 with three sureties by an Accra Circuit Court.
Circuit court judge Mrs Jane Harriet Akweley Quaye said on Monday that all the sureties must be people with jobs.
Abrokwa was arrested by the police after allegedly leaking a sex video of his wife cheating on him with another man and also threatening to douse her with acid.
Mr Abrokwa has denied leaking the video. His lawyer, Mr Maurice Ampaw, on Monday implored the judge to grant his client bail since in his view, Mr Abrokwa will in no way interfere with investigations.
Also in court, Chief Inspector Maxwell Oppong, who is prosecuting the case told the court that the substance Mr Abrokwa held in a bottle with which he threatened his spouse was water and not acid.
Mr Abrokwa insists on his innocence with regards to the two counts of domestic violence, threat of harm, assault on the one hand and publication of obscene material on the other. The case has been adjourned to 11 October 2017.
