Parents and guardians in Ghana have been cautioned to be wary of middlemen, popularly known as ‘goro’ boys, who pose as agents facilitating admissions for junior high school leavers into second cycle institutions.
These middlemen, according to the National Coordinator of the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS), Kwesi Abankwa Anokye, are fraudsters duping unsuspected individuals under the guise of helping to secure admissions.
Speaking on Ghana Yensom on Accra100.5FM Tuesday August 16, he said: “Please don’t pay money to ‘goro’ boys to influence admissions. Let the system work.”
He further added some students seeking admissions to senior high schools could not be admitted to schools assigned them because they report late to school.
“We give the list to the head teachers after the placement and so if you don’t report within the time frame the head will declare the slot vacant so we fill with other students,” he said.
“If there is any reason that will prevent you from reporting within the time frame, you need to notify the head of the school to reserve the slot.”
