Deputy General Secretary of the Ghana Olympic Committee, Richmond Quarcoo, has called for calm after the elimination of two Ghanaian athletes from the on-going Rio Games.
Swimmer Kaya Forson and judoka Szandra Szogedi both exited the games after losing out in their respective disciplines.
However, Mr Quarcoo said the remaining athletes were in high spirits and were ready to battle for Team Ghana.
“There is no panic at all and all the athletes are ready to go out and do their best. I mean everybody is in high spirits ready to do their best,” he told Class Sports.
The next Ghanaian athlete to participate at Rio 2016 is Abeiku Gyekye Jackson, who will be in the men’s 50m freestyle swimming. Abdul Omar will also take on Argentine Alberto Ezequiel Melian in the men’s 56kg boxing on Thursday August 11.
