Former President Jerry John Rawlings’ public outbursts against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is killing the spirit of almost every member of the party, Kwadwo Addai, Former District Chief Executive of Sekyere East, has said.
According to him, the NDC leadership will need to find appropriate ways of handling Mr Rawlings’ issues without further aggravating the party’s woes in opposition.
Mr Rawlings in his latest epistle has indicated that former Presidents John Kufuor, John Mills and John Mahama were all corrupt. However, former Deputy Chief of Staff under the Mahama administration, Ms Valerie Sawyerr in responds accused Mr Rawlings of portraying himself as a saint even though he is not.
Commenting on this development in an interview with Chief Jerry Forson, host of Ghana Yensom on Accra 100.5FM on Wednesday August 9, Mr Addai said: “A big party like the NDC will certainly have people with divergent views on issues within the party and how those issues should be addressed.
“Some believe that they will have to resort to the media to make their concerns known, others think otherwise. But in all of this, I will call for a cease fire for us to unite ahead of the next election.
“I will call on Mr Rawlings and Valerie Sawyerr to end their comments in the media space because their outburst is hurting the party, especially Rawlings’ public booming. We all know he used to boom against opposition parties but he has turned to his own party and that is hurting us.”
