Baba Rahman (middle) played full 90 minutes in Chelsea’s 4-0 win over Maccabi Tel Aviv
Ghana international Baba Rahman is still not ready for the English Premier League, according to Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.
The Portuguese left Rahman entirely out of the Chelsea team against Arsenal, preferring instead to restore Ceasar Azpilicueta at left back and Branislav Ivanovic at right back.
The former Asante Kotoko star did not even make Chelsea’s bench with comments attributed to Jose Mourinho, suggesting that he did not think the left back was ready enough for the demands of English football.
“Branislav Ivanovic replaces Baba Rahman, who is not yet ready for the Premier League. Champions League is different football.”
The £21 million summer acquisition from Augsburg in Germany has targeted regular first team action after his debut against Maccabi Tel Aviv in the European Champions League in midweek.
He clearly has a lot to do to convince Jose Mourinho.
