The National President for Persons Living with Disabilities, Yaw Ofori Debrah, has appealed to members of the group to halt their intended protest over the non-payment of their three per cent common fund budgetary allocation.
Government has failed to pay the allocations for one year.
According to Mr Debrah, although the non-payment of the funds has affected their activities, information reaching him indicates that the Common Fund Administrator has completed collating data and disbursement will soon commence.
He told Class News that the delay was as a result of lack of proper data on Persons Living with Disabilities in the country.
The District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) Act 1993, ACT 455, stipulates that a two per cent allocation be made to PWDs out of the DACF but that has been increased by one per cent, by government.
The aim of the DACF for PWDs is to reduce poverty among them, particularly those outside the formal sector of employment, and enhance their social image through dignified labour.
