Primetime Limited, producers of the National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ), have issued a disclaimer and indicated that they have secured an interim injunction to prevent Nyansapo Productions Limited from staging a play July 8, 2017 about the NSMQ.
“Primetime Ltd hereby states that we are neither associated with nor affiliated to Nyansapo Productions Limited and have not authorised nor aided the said Nyansapo Productions to mount a play to depict any aspects of the National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ),” Managing Director of Primetime Ltd Nana Akua Ankomah-Asare said in a release on Saturday July 8.
She added that they are seeking legal address and filed the writ on July 5, 2017.
By the writ, “Primetime Ltd commenced action in the High Court to restrain the said Nyansapo Productions from performing a play which may have the effect of exposing some participants in the National Science & Maths Quiz to public ridicule and secured to this end an interim injunction order against the said Nyansapo Productions and the National Theatre, restraining their directors, officers, agents, servants, or assigns and whomsoever from enacting the stage play dubbed National Science and Maths Quiz, from an Accra High Court presided over by Mrs Justice Patience Mills-Tetteh.”
Ms Ankomah-Asare assured that Primetime “will never tolerate or condone any attempts, however well-intentioned, to deride or discourage any participant or school from being part of this noble joint effort to improve the quality of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education in Ghana”.
