The Upper West Region has emerged as the latest to record pneumococcal meningitis in the recent outbreak.
,The disease has claimed one life and infected 13 others.
Director of Ghana Health Service (GHS) of Nadowli-Kaleo District, where the dissease struck, disclosed this during the annual health review meeting of the district.
Florence Angsomwini says the number of infected persons in the region increased from four to 13 in just a few weeks.
Meanwhile, Public Relations Officer of the Ghana Health Service, Tony Goodman, says there are currently 160 cases of pneumococcal meningitis nationwide.
He revealed also that latest review of data shows 37 people have died from the disease.
